What a day!!! After a 30 minute delay from LAX to SFO, its good that I was able to make it to Shanghai on time. Its been crazy but thank God that he allowed me to land safely here six thousand miles away from my home. Got to Shanghai about 5PM and met the 7 other people from the US in my program. Shanghai is our first stop in our 4 month stay in China. A majority of our time will be spent in Nanjing.
On the way to our hotel, our tour guide warned us early on about "massages" that were offered by people on the street, a warning that would prove to be useful later on at night. After arriving at our hotel our group decided to take a little walk around the town, it was a brief walk, just about 3 blocks. 3 things learned = 1) Chinese Milk taste spoiled 2) OJ taste similar to American OJ 3) Bus and cars are king of the road, not pedestrians.
Most of us decided to sleep early on our first night here. But me and my roommate were rudely awakened by an anonymous phone call at 12AM. A couple of minutes later a girl in skanky clothing knocked on our door asking if we want a massage, of course we said no. She even asked if it was because we didnt like her, definitely not the reason. At about 12:30 another phone call and another girl in similar attire knocked on our door once again. We were surprised that it was this easy to get this special massage...haha. Its dangerous, because we learned that it might also be part of a police sting!! ---so that is my first experience of a Shanghai night!!!
